Akiko Bando is originally from Tokyo and came to the United States to work at the United Nations. Realizing the entrepreneurial opportunities in the U.S., Akiko established her own business acting as a representative for several Japanese firms. In addition, Akiko authored articles for the Journal of M.I.T.I (Ministry of International Trade and Industry) and other trade industry journals about U.S. businesses.

In 1990, Akiko entered the real estate business in Manhattan specializing in selling condominiums to both homeowners and foreign investors. Her professional approach to real estate reflects her previous career as a business consultant, as well as being a homeowner in Manhattan and the suburbs. Akiko believes a real estate broker must truly understand the current market conditions as well as focusing on each customer's specific needs. Akiko is empathetic, efficient and knowledgeable. She is highly skilled in negotiating the best price for buyers and sellers.

In her leisure time, Akiko enjoys classical music and the opera. She plays piano and, particularly enjoys playing chamber music. Wagner's opera is her passion. She has been a member of the NY Wagner Society for over 20 years. She is also a member of the Foreign Policy Association and the Japan Society.

Akiko has traveled extensively.
